The City of Abbotsford is gearing up for our daylong community-focused Canada Day celebrations, returning to Abbotsford Exhibition Park on July 1.
The day’s activities begin at 10 a.m., at the Ag Rec building with local artisans, non-profit organizations, and local businesses showcasing their goods in the Marketplace, as well as a community stage, and food trucks. A new sensory-friendly zone in the Ag Rec Gallery, provided by trained City staff and the Canucks Autism Network. At 11 a.m., the City’s newly upgraded float, driven by Mayor Ross Siemens, will make its debut in this year’s parade, which travels down South Fraser Way from Bourquin Crescent to Trethewey Street.
Residents can enjoy live entertainment, more food trucks, and a variety of free activities for the whole family, including a second sensory-friendly zone at Rotary Stadium, beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing all day long. The evening festivities include live performances from headliners Becca Hess, Richard Tichelman, and Jimi, and the day’s celebrations will be capped off with a new light show finale, sponsored by Fraser Valley AutoMall. The light show finale will start at 10 p.m. and include a combination of live performances, video, and laser lights.
The City’s Canada Day Celebration promises to be an entertaining and exciting day for all ages and abilities, thanks in part to funding provided by the Government of Canada and the Province of BC.
