Parkrun, a volunteer-led running group, held an event at Matsqui Trail Regional Park. Mayor Siemens took part in the run along with his wife Kelly and organizer John Vissers.

UFV students were at City Hall to present creative solutions to local issues at the 17th CityStudio Hubbub. Mayor Siemens was one of the judges and announced this event’s big winners, “Nightmare on Every Street,” who took home both the Team Award and People’s Choice Award for their project on pest management in local cemeteries.
April 9, 2026 - Highway 11 interchange announcement
Mathxwí First Nation Chief Alice McKay, BC Transportation and Transit Minister Mike Farnworth, Mayor Siemens and Semá:th First Nation Chief Dalton Silver at an announcement for major construction starting on the new Highway 11 interchange, which is expected to reduce congestion, speed up travel times and improve safety.

Deputy Mayor Driessen and Councillor Sidhu attended this year’s memorial vigil for Sukhvinder Kaur Punia, Amarjit Kaur Bal and Sarabjit Kaur Sidhu, who died when their work van crashed in 2007.

This year Yale Secondary School’s Live to Give campaign raised $16,000 for Canuck Place. Mayor Siemens, school board chair Stan Petersen and superintendent Nathan Ngieng attended the celebration, where student MCs Clara Thiessen, Kareena Sandhu and Hannah Zimmerman presented a cheque to Chantelle Bowles, Canuck Place senior officer, major gifts.

Langley United beat Columbus FC 3-2 to win the Fraser Valley Soccer League’s Pakenham Cup, Canada’s oldest soccer trophy. Deputy Mayor Driessen was on-hand to present the cup to the winning team.

March 9, 2024 - Golden Tree Farmworkers’ Memorial
Mayor Siemens and Councillors Chahal, Sidhu and Barkman attended the annual Golden Tree Farmworkers’ Memorial. This meaningful event honours Sarbjit Kaur Sidhu, Amarjit Kaur Bal and Sukhvinder Kaur Punia, who died on March 7, 2007 when their work van crashed on Highway 1.
