Contest Rules

• Contest Details

  The City of Abbotsford’s (City) Star Recycler Contest is open to single-family homes and duplexes located in Abbotsford who had a star recycling sticker placed on their recycling cart.

  The contest is open to entries from January 1, 2024 to 12 midnight on December 31, 2024. 

  • Two monthly winners from January to December 2024 will receive a prize basket with a $25 gift card from a local business. Winners will be randomly drawn from that months’ entries.
  • Two winners will receive $100 off of their Solid Waste User Fees on their property tax bill for 2025. Winners will be randomly drawn from all contest entries from January to December 2024.
  • One grand prize winner will receive a free year of Solid Waste User Fees for 2025. The prize will be applied to the property tax bill for 2025. Grand Prize Winners will be randomly drawn from all contest entries from January – December 2024.

  All winners will be contacted by phone and/or email. All prizes must be claimed no later than 14 days after the date winners are initially contacted. If a winner cannot be reached within 14 days following the first attempt of contact or fails to claim their prize, the prize shall be forfeited and the City reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to select another winner. 

• Eligibility

  • Single-family homes and duplexes who have received a star sticker on their recycling cart, from the City of Abbotsford during a curbside audit.
• How to Enter

  • To enter the contest, scan the QR code on the Star Recycler sticker on your blue recycling cart during the contest period and enter your contact information.
  • All entries must be received by 12 midnight December 31, 2024. 
  • No purchase is required.
• General Rules

  • Limit of one entry per property.
  • The prize shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged or refunded for an amount of money, sold or transferred. No substitutions will be allowed. 
  • All personal information, such as name and contact information, is collected by the City solely for the purposes of administering this contest and shall not be used for any other purpose without your express content. 
  • Selected winners may be required to provide proof of identity.
  • Selected winners who willingly express consent to use and publish images and audio of the winner for editorial, trade, advertising, promotion or any other lawful purpose in any manner or medium, shall sign a Release and Assignment form.
