We offer a 1 month, 3 month, 6 month and yearly rec pass which allows patrons full access to both Abbotsford Recreation Centre and Matsqui Recreation Centre. Once you register for a Rec Pass you will be issued a card with your photo ID on it. When you visit a facility you can scan in and enjoy unlimited use. We also offer 10 and 20 session passes for discounted use. Prices are listed above in the Facility Admission Rates.
Pre-Authorized Payment Plan program
Is an optional payment plan, which provides an opportunity to make monthly payments for City of Abbotsford Annual Passes. Enjoy the convenience of monthly pass payments at our annual rates. All for no additional fees. Ask a Customer Service Representative about our Annual Pass Payment Plan Option or fill out the information and drop it off to Matsqui Recreation Centre or Abbotsford Recreation Centre.

Lifestyle & Wellness Classes
Bones & Balance This 45-minute active aging class focuses on functional movement, balance, stability, and general strength to keep you moving through all phases of life. This class offers modifications that allow all fitness levels to participate. Intensity Level: 2 Senior/Beginner friendly
Functional Training This class focuses on correct form and everyday movements. A full-body workout that bases its exercises on balance, stability, mobility, combined movements, and training your body to adapt to advanced movements. This is an ever-changing class that is perfect for those with injuries, those looking to improve their technique, or those looking to either improve or maintain their quality of movement. This class moves from the floor to a standing position often required to be able to do this independently. Intensity Level: 3
Movement Circuit Based out of the weight room, this class is run in a timed circuit style that is perfect for those new to working out or wanting to incorporate machines as well as cables into their workout routine. Come prepared to be motivated but can work at your own fitness pace. This makes it a great class for beginners, and the active aging population. This class can incorporate cardiovascular equipment or the track in its programming. Intensity Level: 3
On the Ball A full body workout that will get your core fired up. Utilizes the stability balls, the BOSU balls, as well as weights and other equipment to challenge your muscles, strengthen your core, and improve your posture. This class gets the body moving from a standing position to the floor often. Intensity Level: 3
Strength to Stretch Designed to focus on strength as well as stretching. It is a weight-based class that provides participants with an excellent strength workout. The class ends with a focus on stretching and the outcome of this class will increase your strength and flexibility. Intensity Level: 3
Stroller & Strength Stroller friendly (children must remain in the stroller at all times) this class focuses on safe exercises for new parents with children from the ages of 1-3 years of age. Come prepared to have a good workout- at your own pace while having an environment that is child-friendly. Class is not recommended for those children under 1yrs due to safety concerns. Please ensure your doctor has cleared you for exercise. Those over 3 that can remain in a stroller are welcome. Intensity Level: 3
Strength & Conditioning Classes
Bands & Abs 45-minutes in length. This class combines resistance bands with core-specific strengthening exercises to provide a great full-body workout. Great for those looking for something different in their exercise routine and is suitable for beginners to experienced exercise persons. Floor routines are included. Intensity Level: 3 Cardio & Strength Whoever said cardio had to be running? In this high-repetition, low-weight class, we charge your cardiovascular system all while improving muscle tone, and definition using a variety of strength exercises combined with cardio to keep your heart pumping while gaining overall strength. This class uses a combination of equipment as well as body weight activities. Intensity Level: 4 Full Force We use exercises that involve the whole body while using plyometric moving and with minimal rest times to keep your heart rate up and muscles working. This is not for the light-hearted so be ready to be motivated and pushed to your limits. This class uses advanced movements. Intensity Level: 5 Advanced Class Glutes, Curls & Crunches A 45-min. class providing high-paced exercises focusing on key muscle groups we all need to work on. It will keep your body and mind working while improving your strength. Come prepared to do both standing and floor routines using a combination of free weights, bands, and body weights. Intensity Level: 3 Rise & Shine Bootcamp The early bird gets the worm and a great workout with this class! Come prepared for an intense cardiovascular wake-up with functional movements, circuits, and plyometrics. Intensity level 5 No Sweat A pre-choreographed weight resistance workout using body bars and a dumbbell. This class helps tone the whole body and is great for all participants. Intensity Level: 3
SCULPT Fit Using techniques rooted in CrossFit this class will have you setting new PRs (Personal Records) as you train in every aspect of Fitness: endurance, stamina, power, strength, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and flexibility. Unlike other high-intensity classes, this class does not focus on timed intervals of intensity, so it is designed to be what you make of it! Intensity Level: 3
Total Body Fitness This class does it all! It has a main focus on strength and stability but engages your cardiovascular system by increasing repetition which is bound to get your heart rate up. This class is great for those looking to get a good workout in and enjoy an ever-changing atmosphere. Intensity Level: 4 Movement Classes
Hatha Yoga Great for improving body alignment, learning relaxation techniques, and becoming comfortable doing yoga, while building strength and flexibility. This class can use equipment such as blocks, and yoga straps to aid in movement. Suitable for those new to yoga with the understanding there is movement down to the floor level.
Intensity Level: 3Pilates/Yoga Fusion Combines Pilates and Yoga moves to increase flexibility and strength through a series of controlled movements and breathing. This class starts off getting you moving and ends with nice simple yoga flows to ground you for the rest of your day. Intensity Level: 3 Pilates Low impact class focusing on flexibility and muscular endurance movements. It’s a great class for those looking to improve postural alignment, rehabilitate injuries, improve balance, and strengthen core muscles. This class can be taught at different levels, which is great for those who are just starting on their Pilates journey. Intensity Level: 3
Zumba Classes
STRONG Nation Combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio, and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. Every squat, every lunge, and every burpee is driven by the music, helping you make it to that last rep, and maybe even five more. In each class, you'll burn calories while toning your arms, legs, abs, and glutes. Plyometric or explosive moves like high knees, burpees, and jumping jacks are interchanged with isometric moves like lunges, squats, and kickboxing. Intensity Level: 5 Advanced Class Zumba Fusing Latin moves with easy-to-follow choreography. This class is great for those who are new, to those who are experienced because participants can modify as they see fit. Intensity Level: 4 Zumba Bolly-X This high-energy fitness class is Bollywood-inspired! It combines dynamic choreography with an uplifting playlist. The class design cycles between high-intensity workout cycles with lower-intensity dance sequences. Intensity Level: 4 Zumba Gold 5-minutes in length. Easy to follow Zumba choreography-slowed down to focus on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Designed for the elderly population, beginners, or those with pre-existing conditions with medical clearance for exercise. Intensity Level: 3 Zumba Toning This class combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused ZUMBA moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness party. This class is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast! Intensity Level: 4 Cycle Classes
Beginner Cycle This class is designed for those who are new to cycling or want a slower pace class than a regular cycle. This class focuses some time in the beginning on the setup of the bike and then gets into intervals and cycling. This class is great for those looking to work at their own pace with resistance and speed but still in a cycle class environment. Intensity Level: 4 Cycle The ultimate indoor cycling experience for cardiovascular performance and improved cycling skills. Join our instructor where you will be doing cycling drills to music to help get you through this intense and FUN workout. Intensity Level: 5 Power Hour A hybrid of spin and weight resistance class designed to provide a strength and cardiovascular workout in one. This class has you on and off the bike, as well as doing weight, and resistance-based exercises. Intensity Level: 5 Advanced Class Aquatic Classes
Aqua Deep A low-impact aerobic exercise in deep water to music, primarily in a vertical body position. The class ranges in activities, focusing on aerobic endurance and resistance training, and is great for participants with joint-related health concerns. The ability to swim is an asset in this class. Intensity Level: 3 Aqua Shallow A low impact, aerobic exercise that is in shallow water to music, primarily in a vertical body position. The class ranges in movements, focusing on aerobic endurance and resistance training, and is great for participants with joint-related health concerns. Intensity Level: 2 Senior/Beginner friendly Aqua Fit A low-impact aerobic exercise that is a hybrid class allowing participants to use the shallow and deep water in the same class. The class ranges in activities, focusing on aerobic endurance and resistance training, and is great for participants with joint-related health concerns. Intensity Level: 2 Aqua Zumba Combines the dance moves and music of Zumba with water exercises. It offers a fun but challenging class and is great for participants with joint-related health concerns. Intensity Level: 3 -
We have a class for every fitness level! Each of our fitness classes has a number beside the description indicating the class intensity. Classes can be modified; however, for safety reasons and your own enjoyment, if you are a beginner, please stay with intensity of 3 or below.
Level 1 Classes are designed to work below 30% of your heart rate maximum-have no cardiovascular component worked into them. These classes are adapted or moderated for a specific population. Most can either be adapted to be seated, or done at a very low impact, and slow pace. These classes have little to no impact exercises, and do not use floor routines. Level 2 Classes are designed to work between 30-40% of your heart rate maximum and is compared to activities of daily living. This class offers you activity that provides you either low impact, or modifications so that everyone is able to perform. These classes are designed to be more mobility/ functional movement based, and not focused so much on cardiovascular, high repetitions, or advanced movements. These classes do not use floor routines. Level 3 Classes are designed for participants to work up to 55% of their heart rate maximum. These classes are great for those active three or more times a week and are designed to be either choreographed, weighted, or timed to help participants reach their peak fitness. These classes are designed to get participants moving in different planes—standing to seated, to the floor—and will also incorporate some balance/stability movements. They may be somewhat cardiovascular based depending on the class. Anyone who has had a previous medical condition in the past year should consult their medical professionals prior to participating. Level 4 Classes are designed to have the participants work up to 65% of their heart rate maximum during the class and use a combination of strength and/or cardiovascular focused exercises. Advanced movements such as single leg stands, and movement from the floor to a standing position as well as balancing on things such as BOSU balls and balance boards are often incorporated. These classes are best suited for those who are active over four days a week and of good health. It is recommended that you see a medical professional if you want to participate in these classes but have had a medical condition in the last 12 months. Level 5 Classes are designed to have participants working above 70% of their heart rate maximum to provide mainly a cardiovascular workout. These classes are designed to increase participants heart rate and focus on the cardiovascular system over the muscular system. They can be taught with modifications—such as working at your own pace, and are designed for those who are active more than 5 days a week and of good health. Please consult a doctor if you have any medical conditions prior to attending level 5 classes. -
- Admission will not be permitted if you are more than 10 minutes late for your land Fitness classes due to intensity and flow of classes and disruption to the class environment. Water classes may be able to accommodate late participants
- Participants under the age of 7 are required to be in a stroller and/or in hand with parent/ guardian at all times while using the track. For safety concerns, children 7yrs - 15yrs may not access any equipment around the track or in the rest of the weight room. Exceptions are for 13-15yrs who have completed the Teen Weight Room orientation.
- Walking poles are permitted with rubber bottoms.

Cardiac Rehab This program is designed to support people who are at risk for a cardiovascular event or have suffered from one. A certified professional from the cardiac center works alongside a certified fitness professional to provide a safe and welcoming environment. This class does require medical clearance and a referral. You can graduate to Cardiac AfterCare after a minimum of 32 sessions- which varies per person. Heart rate monitors are provided. Blood pressure is taken at the beginning of each day. Glucose is checked if needed also.
Cardiac AfterCare This program is for anyone who has a history of heart disease and has been cleared by a physician to participate in physical activity or has graduated from the Cardiac Rehab program. It combines cardiovascular exercise with strength exercises that will not only be good for your heart but also your overall wellness. Intensity Level: 2
Pre-Requisites: Graduation from Cardiac Rehabilitation valid within a year of completion. Completion document required. You must have your heart rate monitor: watch, oximeter, band. Must physically be able to walk up/down stairs and participate in cardiovascular activities without aid. All strength and stretch can be adapted.
Cardiac Maintenance This program is for anyone who has a history of heart disease and has been cleared by a physician to participate in physical activity or has graduated from the Cardiac AfterCare program. It combines cardiovascular exercise with strength exercises that will not only be good for your heart but also your overall wellness. Intensity Level: 2
Pre-Requisites: Completion of at least 32 sessions of Cardiac Aftercare. Completion Document Required. OR medical documentation stating you are cleared for unsupervised exercise post Cardiac Episode of a year or more with no further complications. You must have a heart rate monitor: watch, oximeter, band. Must physically be able to walk up/ down stairs and participate in cardiovascular activities without aid. Must be able to complete strength and stretching standing, sitting, as well as on the floor.
TIME (Together in Movement and Exercise) TIME™ is a group exercise program designed by UHN Toronto Rehab physiotherapists and led by fitness instructors at local community centers across Canada. The program was developed for adults who have challenges with balance and mobility. Many of the participants in the class have difficulties with balance or moving around in their home or community due to conditions such as stroke, ABI, or MS, but enrollment is open to anyone with balance and mobility issues, regardless of underlying condition or diagnosis. Classes incorporate a mix of aerobic training, balance training, functional strengthening, and functional mobility exercises. Classes are one hour long, 1-2 times per week, usually 10-12 weeks. A ratio of 4 participants to 1 instructor/volunteer is followed for all TIME™ programs. The last class of each session is a social where the participants can come and socialize, and instructors provide future information. Aids and spouses are welcome to participate. Intensity Level: 1 Adaptive Yoga Our instructor will take you through this gentle form of yoga with movements sitting in a chair or standing using the chair for support. The chair takes away the difficulty of having to get up on your own or getting down to the floor. You will learn yoga poses, breathing techniques, and medication and leave feeling relaxed! Intensity Level: 2 Relaxation Yoga This specialized Yoga class is a great addition to anyone’s busy day. This class uses traditional yoga poses held for longer periods allowing for a deeper stretch, with an emphasis on deep relaxation, meditation, and breathing. This class builds on sequences and by the end be prepared to let your troubles fade away while finding mindfulness. Intensity Level: 3 Ladies Only Bootcamp Join the fun and supportive group class where you will learn how to work out in a safe and fun environment. This class is taught in a classroom and provides those who are not as comfortable working out in a co-ed setting the ability to get some exercise in! Each day will be different so come prepared to be challenged. Intensity Level: 4 ActivAge ActivAge™ is a free 3-month group-led physical activity program for inactive older adults. It introduces participants to physical activity and reinforces their commitment to incorporate it into their daily lives. The program is progressive with planned physical activities (stretching, activity, and cool-down) based on ActivAge™ training. This fun and social program will help get participants moving in a relaxed environment with likeminded people. The program focuses on improving activities associated with daily living, strengthening muscles used day-to-day (ie: bending, lifting, stretching, etc). Each class incorporates physical activities that engage participants, and features in-class discussions and resources to improve overall health and physical well-being. Choose to Move Choose to Move will help introduce the habit of physical activity into your daily life in ways that make sense for you. Choose to Move is free and flexible and provides you with motivation and support to become more active. You will receive individual and group support and work with a trained activity coach to develop and stick to a physical activity plan made just for you. You choose activities that you know you will enjoy and can do! You will also join a group of other Choose to Movers to share successes and challenges. With the help of your activity coach and support group, you will find the motivation and accountability you need to achieve your goals. To learn more about Choose to Move visit the website.

Minds in Motion Is a fitness and social program for people living with any form of early-stage dementia to attend with a family member, friend or other care partner. Gentle exercises are followed by social activities designed to be enjoyed in pairs. Care partners must attend. Registration fees (in-person sessions only) include the cost of the person living with dementia and one care partner. Start at any time and pay a pro-rated registration fee. -
