Body

Our mission as City Council is to strive to continually improve the quality of life within our community by delivering key services for current and future generations. As part of our many check-in processes and public engagement opportunities, we are once again inviting residents to participate in our Bi-annual Quality of Life Survey.

The 2024 survey can be filled out at letstalkabbotsford.ca/QOL until Nov. 9.

Additionally, this year, members of the University of the Fraser Valley’s Community Health and Social Innovation Hub (CHASI) will also be going from door-to-door with in-person surveys in neighbourhoods across Abbotsford.

The City has been conducting these surveys every two years since 2018, and past results can be found on the City’s website here. The key objectives of the Quality of Life Survey are to measure residents’ general satisfaction with their overall quality of life, the community experiences that contribute to their quality of life and life satisfaction, their concern with specific community issues, and their feelings of belonging, connection to and support of their community.

For example, the survey asks how often residents are involved in community activities, how often they access civic facilities, their opinion of City and emergency services, what they worry about, what makes them happy, and their thoughts on Abbotsford and if it’s a good place to live.

The survey also aims to determine awareness, importance, usage and satisfaction residents have with City facilities, amenities and programs, while identifying any potential barriers to awareness or access.  The information we gather in this survey is vital to our future planning on programs and services.

The most recent survey included a random sample of more than 500 people contacted via telephone between Sept. 6 and 29, 2022. It found that the top three most important City facilities, amenities and programs designed and available to the entire community are our senior and youth programs and our parks and trails.

Thank you in advance to everyone for participating in the 2024 Quality of Life Survey. Your responses give us valuable feedback to help us make informed decisions on strategic goals and priorities for the community as we work every day to make Abbotsford the best place it can be to live, work and play.
