You don’t have to travel far to enjoy the Family Day long weekend. There’s plenty to do right here in our own backyard.
As the cultural and economic Hub of the Fraser Valley, there’s always a lot going on in Abbotsford, and the Family Day long weekend is the perfect time to explore our community with your loved ones.
Whether it’s our beautiful parks and trails, our bustling historic downtown, or our vibrant agri-tourism destinations, there is no shortage of attractions to enjoy with your family this weekend. Abbotsford has so much to offer and there’s something for everybody, so you’re always bound to find something new to do or see.
Staying local can also keep things affordable. The City of Abbotsford, for example, is once again offering free recreation programming for families at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre (ARC) and Matsqui Recreation Centre (MRC).
On Sunday, Feb. 16 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. the ARC is presenting a free family movie night. You can register here. If you want to stick around for the whole double bill, be sure to register for both screenings. On Monday, Feb. 17, the ARC and MRC are both presenting free activities from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as part of their Family Day Fun Fest.
At the ARC families can take part in playtime, fitness, skating or sports including pickleball, badminton, soccer, volleyball and basketball. Both the ARC and MRC will be offering public swims, with the MRC operating its wave machine and water slide from 1 to 6 p.m. Admission is free for all drop-ins, but skate rental fees still apply.
