The City of Abbotsford recognizes that our social media channels are an important tool for communicating and engaging with the residents of our community. In order to provide online spaces that are as respectful, open, and engaging as possible, we ask that all users of City of Abbotsford social media sites (LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter) abide by the following Terms of Use. We reserve the right to hide, report, or remove posts/comments, links, or images that:
- are violent, obscene, profane, hateful, or racist
- attack, threaten, or defame any person or organization
- are unrelated to the topic of the page or original post
- solicit on behalf of, advertise for, or endorse any person or organization
- promote or oppose any person campaigning for election to a political office
- suggest or encourage illegal activity
- violate intellectual property rights; and
- are repetitive in nature (e.g., posts copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users across multiple channels).
We reserve the right to block users who violate these Terms of Use from further activity on any City of Abbotsford social media channels.
Response to Comments and Messages
The City does not guarantee a response to every question or comment received.
The City of Abbotsford social media channels are monitored on regular business days, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. We make every effort to answer messages and inquiries within 24 hours on business days.
User Generated Content
Users are encouraged to submit their content, including photographs and videos, for our social media channels. You can do so by tagging our City social media accounts, entering our social media related contests, or by emailing them to our team at marketinginfo@abbotsford.ca.
By submitting your content so that it can be shared on the City’s social media channels, you agree and acknowledge to the following terms:
- you are over 18 years of age
- you will not post links that contain any spyware, virus, or malware
- you will only submit content that you have created or have the right to submit
- you have permission to use the name and/or likeness of each identifiable individual in your submission
- your submitted content may be used by the City on any of social media channels
- you grant the City an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable, and transferrable license to use, publish, alter, edit, reproduce, create derivative works from, and display your submitted content (including any personal information therein), in any form, in connection with the business operations of the City.
